Co-living, explained
A private bedroom of your own, with the kitchen and living room shared. Plain answers to common questions about how it works.
What is co-living?
Co-living is a way of renting where each resident has a private bedroom and shares the kitchen, living room, and other common space with the other people in the home. Residents rent their own room rather than a whole house or apartment.
Who is co-living for?
People who want a private room in a well-kept home and are comfortable sharing common areas. It often suits people who are keeping housing costs down, are new to the city, or work nearby and want a simple place to live.
Why build stacked duplexes for co-living?
A stacked duplex puts one home on the lower floor and a second home above it on the same footprint. That fits two homes on a single lot, and each floor can be laid out with private bedrooms around shared living space.
Who manages the homes?
Co-living homes in the King Tide group are managed by NextGen Home Solutions, the group's property-management company. NextGen handles leasing, resident questions, and maintenance requests.
How does co-living relate to affordable housing?
Renting a private room with shared common space usually costs a resident less than renting a whole unit on their own. KTI Homes designs stacked duplexes with both co-living and affordable housing in mind.
